Text Books Are Hot Sellers on Half.com!

DID YOU KNOW…

You can sell textbooks on Half.com. These books are great sellers for the ‘going-back-to-school’ crowd. I can tell you personally that used textbooks have been some of my best sellers! You can sell textbooks any time of the year, but make sure to have all of your school text items listed druing August and September, and then again in Jaunuary and February. These are the months the textbooks sell quickest and at the highest prices.

Q…If I am going to be away on vacation for a week or more, or if I will not have access to a computer for a few days, is there a way I can still manage my items without having contact with the Half.com site?

A…What you can do in a case where you will be gone and are not able to accessing the Half.com site is to temporarily shut down your site. This is called ‘Vacation Settings,’ and from the My Account page you can click on the “Leave for Vacation” link, and by doing this all of your items are temporarily taken off the Half.com site and are unavailable for sale. Upon your return you just click on the “Return from Vacation” link, and all of your inventory is made available for sale again on Half.com. Easy-Peasy!

Payments are Automated at Half.com – Less Hassle for You!

DID YOU KNOW…

Half.com takes care of collecting all payments from the sale of an item on their site. The payments are then deposited directly into the seller’s checking account approximately every two weeks by Half.com. So, once you have made a sale at Half.com, the notice of that sale is sent to your email box, and Half.com takes care of collecting and issuing all monies regarding the sale. You have none of the headaches of waiting for payments from buyers. Another nice feature of selling on Half.com!

Q…Does Half.com allow people from outside the United States to buy and sell on its site the way eBay does?

A…The Half.com site only allows residents of the United States to buy and sell on their site. Whereas, eBay does allow participation from people around the globe to buy and sell on all eBay sites.

Q…Also, do you know why sellers on Half.com cannot use PayPal for payments made when they can use PayPal on eBay? Isn’t Half.com a part of Ebay?

A…Yes, Half.com is a part of eBay, but at this time Half.com has no plans to incorporate PayPal into the seller payment system such as eBay does.

Freecycle Benefits People and Mother Earth

DID YOU KNOW….

There is a site called ‘Freecycle’ http://www.freecycle.org/ which is made up of 5,732,000 members across the globe. It’s a grassroots nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Membership is free.

What does this mean to you and selling on Half.com? This is one of many places you can locate books, DVD’s, CD’s, audiotapes…and tons more…all for free, and you can sell these items on Half.com. It’s a mutual giving and receiving on behalf of all participants to benefit the people and Mother Earth.

Check out locations in your area!

Q…When listing an item on Half.com, is it the same format as on eBay where you have to put a picture up of the item you’re selling, give a description of that item, and pay a fee for each listing, then relist the item again after its expiration date?

A…No, you do not have to have a picture of the item, that is already provided for you by the Half.com site.

There are no charges you have to pay up front for listing an item, like on eBay, but there is a commission taken out when you do sell the item, and the amount charged is dependent on the price the item sold for. You can find the commission charges for items sold at http://pages.half.ebay.com/help/seller/getpaid.html#toc-01.

You do not ‘have’ to give a description of the condition of the item you are listing, but it is a better selling feature if you do give a brief one-line statement as to its condition. This helps to make it more clear to the buyer what they will be receiving.

Once the item is listed, you do not have to list it again…there is no expiration date. It will remain on the Half.com site as a listed item until you sell it or remove it yourself from the site.

Q…Did you actually make $4000 deposited into your bank account your first month selling on Half.com?

A…Yes, I did, and that was very exciting…BUT…I do want to stress that it is not about that $4000 figure that everyone should try to attain…it’s about the fact that you can make ‘extra’ money for whatever your reasons and desires might be. Maybe you only make half of that amount, or even a fourth…the point is, that’s still $1000-2000 of extra money a month that you wouldn’t have had. Say you make even an eighth of that…that’s $500…and to me, that’s great money made from product sitting around your house, or gotten for free at one of the several places available to everyone. It’s not about HUGE amounts of money every month, it’s about the fact that you are able to bring in extra money from resources that don’t cost you a thing.
